I had a great time this last week at the Internet Identity Workshop. So great I think there will be several weeks of posts about highlights and insights.
One of the surprising things was a conversation I had with Jogi leader of MyData after the conference. He said he had been very influenced by a video I was in. I had literally 100% forgotten that I had given this talk at Get-D.
Its all about Polarity Management and how there is a polarity with Centralized and Decentralized. I think this is important to think about as we build networks for identity connection and sharing – it isn’t just about decentralizing so much that we are disconnected and it isn’t putting so much power into the hands of one group (centralizing) its figuring out the best of both.
You can learn more about Polarity Management here – and I’d love to go do a workshop with fellow leaders in the community thinking about how we lead this community.
I mention this book in the talk – Protocol: How control exists after Decentralization. Book PdF
It was shortly after this talk my life spiraled into a dark depressive space and was incapacitated in an severally emotionally abusive relationship. The Trauma from the next year of being stuck and then as things unfolded and fell apart took me another two years to recover from. So hear we are now more then three years later. I’m good now but I literally forgot giving this talk. I remember vaguely being at the conference but this is highlighting that Trauma is a kind of strange eraser. I’m glad I have friends who can help me remember. If you know of things of mine that inspired you please share because I may have forgotten I even did them.
